Our Staff
Suzanne Klainbard
Suzanne is Dr. Paul Klainbard’s wife, is the office manager at Family Veterinary Care. She also grew up in Ossining, NY where they met in high school. Her love for animals began at an early age while helping take care of her family’s various pets – dogs, goats, rabbits, ducks, turtles, lizards, and snakes. After graduating from OHS, she went on to earn a BS in Biomedical Engineering from University of Vermont and a Masters of Engineering in Transportation Engineering from Cornell University. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, snowboarding, gardening, and trying out new restaurants.
Lisa Walker
Lisa feels very fortunate to be part of the Family Vet team. She always knew she wanted to have lots of animals in her life. As a pet owner there are only so many companions we can have in a lifetime, but working here allows her to be a small part in many more animals’ lives than just the ones in her home. She and her husband live with their snuggly and entertaining dogs, Lucie and Truman. “COVID has made lots of time for crocheting- Truman seems to enjoy this more than Lucie, but she is kind enough to humor me for photos wearing my newest creations.”
Evan Altwerger
Evan joined our team in January 2020. Evan loves to welcome all patients and clients with a smile. “I love working at Family Veterinary Care of Ossining. Our staff is just the best”, he said. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching his favorite sports teams in action.

She graduated with a BS in veterinary technology from Mercy College and obtained her licensure in March of 2005, after working in the field for four years previous. She began working with Dr. Paul Klainbard fourteen years ago and has returned to work with him after taking several years off following the birth of her last child. Laura spends her days off running, baking, and partaking in her kids’ sporting events. She is very grateful to be back at the office with Dr Klainbard and the rest of the Family Vet crew.
Margot Pavlik
Margot has had a love for animals since she was very young. She has always enjoyed connecting and spending time with her pets. She grew up with cats first, and eventually adopted dogs. She earned her degree in Biology from Siena College. Working at Family Vet has been fulfilling for Margot, especially organizing and leading the care team for our office cat, Scotty. She plans to stay in the veterinary field while working towards her other passion, genetic research and gene sequencing. In her spare time, she’s an avid sailor and reader and loves spending time with friends.
Sharon Alpert
Sharon grew up in White Plains, graduated from Syracuse University and has lived in Ossining with her husband, Steve since 1983. They raised their 2 daughters here, who are now out of the nest, but the patter of little feet is still evident in the presence of Zinnia, a recent adoptee. Always a lover of animals, Sharon has worked in the veterinary field since 1998, and currently due to COVID, she is taking a break from being in the office to deliver food and medicine to our clients.
